How-To: Make Your Own Bacon
By Andrew LewisBacon has been an important part of our diet for hundreds of years. It is mentioned in the Forme of Curry produced by the master cooks of King Richard II, and the general method for producing bacon has remained largely unchanged since the 14th century.Although I can't claim that our family recipe goes quite that far back, we have been making our own bacon for several generations. I think that the best bacon is made using the dry curing process, which I will describe here. Dry curing uses dry salt and spices to preserve the pork, and the resulting bacon has a firm texture and strong taste.Making bacon is an incredibly satisfying experience. The taste of homemade bacon is far superior to anything that you will purchase in the supermarket, and the process is so simple that you will wonder why you never did it before.Download the Recipe PDF Right click to save the PDF to your desktop. Porcelain Pistol
Porcelain Pistol by Yvonne Lee Schultz: The Porcelain Pistols are replicas of James Bond's Walther PPK and its contemporary sister, the P99,with friendly permission of Carl Walther Inc.The fragile weapon, hand-painted in the style of classic tableware motifs, liesnext to your coffee and cake, asking to be picked up. Its coolness andcomfortable grip increase the qualms of the user, leaving him in a quandary between the pleasure of luxury and violence.[via Dude Craft]Read the Full Story » | More on CRAFT » | Comments » | Read more articles in Arts & Design | Digg this!
