CRAFT Pattern: Bevy of Bangles
Today's featured CRAFT Pattern are the Bevy of Bangles a knit, crochet, and felted jewelry project from the upcoming new book, Gifted: Lovely Little Things to Knit + Crochet by Mags Kandis (published by Interweave Press). I love how you can make these super colorful (color is a huge trend for the fall season) and you can use up a lot of your yarn stash in the process. It's a great quick project to make!Gifted is a great book filled with lots of projects you can quickly make and give them to your friends and family as gifts. (Hence the title!) I love that there is such a great variety of projects in fantastic designs. From pretty earmuffs to a darling tea cozy, there's something you can make for everyone on your list! You can preview more sample projects and photos in the book here. This Bevy of Bangles pattern will also be demonstrated by Mags in the upcoming new season (Series 500) of Knitting Daily TV which will begin airing on PBS stations next week. (Check your local listings or the website for air dates and times.) The DVDs of Series 500 are available online at Interweave.Download the Pattern PDF | Subscribe in iTunesRight click to save the PDF to your desktop. Moss-Covered Living Walls in London
I wish I had seen these moss walls by Norwegian design studio PUSHAK while I was in London last week! From Inhabitat: Dubbed Moss Your City, the project was installed during the London Festival of Architecture as a part of the foundation's international exchange program, which promotes emerging architects in both Norway and the UK. The project encourages individuals "to become foresters in their own city" by participating in guerilla gardening actions.[Thanks, Andrew!]More:Moss GraffitiRead the Full Story » | More on CRAFT » | Comments » | Read more articles in Gardening | Digg this! blog.craftzine.com |
Vintage Hasbro Craft Kits
I saw these two craft kits, from 1971 and 1972, while doing a little thrifting this weekend. They're plain on the back and are filled with gently-used pieces inside. I love looking for fun kits like this whenever I'm at a seconhand shop, garage sale, etc. I like how these kits are designed for the "expressive generation," too! I picked up the applique kit for a review and to see what I can come up with. How many of you out there pick up vintage craft supplies for a collection or to use with your projects? Vegan Thin Mints Recipe
Naomi from A Billion Tastes and Tunes shares her recipe to make vegan thin mints that I am excited to try out.Naomi writes:In this recipe, I only put glaze on one side of the cookie. It's a yummy, thick, and very minty glaze. You can double it if you want to glaze both sides (though I recommend letting the first side firm up before glazing the second side), or you can just spread the glaze thinner to cover both sides.Read the Full Story » | More on CRAFT » | Comments » | Read more articles in Food | Digg this! blog.craftzine.com |
