Edible Crayons
Beautiful edible crayons, made by the brilliant soul over at Luxirare. They are functioning crayons, because they can make colored markings. What else do you need from a crayon? Well, you won't get that familiar waxy scent that transports us all to preschool ...These guys are made of fruit, nuts, and/or various other color-appropriate foodstuffs: bee pollen, fruity pebbles, melted marshmallow. And the flavor is incidental: "Each crayon was made with color division. Yes the flavor is based on colors, not actual flavors ..." Ha! Nice. And the process of creation is described, to assist you in your own edible crayon endeavors. Collection A Day 2010
While not a collector of measure, I deeply enjoy seeing like objects grouped together. (Don't you? It's like a brain massage!) In any case, I was just turned on to San Francisco illustrator and Rare Device boutique/gallery owner Lisa Congdon's Collection A Day blog. Here we get to see a photograph or drawing posted each day from her numerous real and imagined collections -- ranging from luscious vintage ephemera to erasers, fishing lures to spatulas, pine cones to flash cards. Keep an eye out for the book, to be released via Uppercase in the Spring of 2011.Read the Full Story » | More on CRAFT » | Comments » | Read more articles in General | Digg this!

Fun on the Set at Martha Stewart
As you probably saw from Becky's post today, "The Martha Stewart Show" was all about World Maker Faire yesterday and several of us were on hand to be part of the audience. Representing Detroit, Nick Britsky (i3 Detroit) and I sat proudly in the front row watching all the great makers show off their hard work to the masses. And as you can see from this infographic I made, I got to spend some intimate time with Martha herself. Ok, ok. So there were a few other people in the audience, including Girlzilla. Ok, I didn't actually meet her. But a girl can dream, right? And get a backstage tour? Oh, yes she can. Here are a few of the highlights from hanging out on the set yesterday.Read the Full Story » | More on CRAFT » | Comments » | Read more articles in Maker Faire | Digg this!
