Ayako Otsuka
I was poking around on Jenny Hart's blog the other day, and was delighted to find Japanese embroidery artist Ayako Otsuka. Otsuka's work is varied and ranges from a unique style of delicate white on white embroidery, to elegant botanical stumpwork, to quirky freehand. (As you can see I am more enamored with the latter.) Otsuka is the author of numerous embroidery books, and she runs her own studio, Ecru (in Japanese). Greenwich House Pottery's Summer Arts Program for Kids
Non-profit ceramics studio Greenwich House Pottery (GHP) in New York City is in the running for a $5,000 grant that they'll use to fund summer arts programming for NYC kids in need. And they need your vote.For more than 100 years, Greenwich House Pottery has offered classes and workshops to New Yorkers of all ages. Greenwich House offers health, arts, education, and social services to New Yorkers in need.You can vote online every day until Nov. 1 and help Greenwich House Pottery get the funding to provide free summer ceramics and mixed media classes for NYC kids.
