How-To: Pillowcase Sundress
By Nikol LohrSundresses made of cute vintage pillow cases aren't just for little girls. If you have a pair of pillowcases, you can make a dress that fits up to a size XL. Look for pillowcases in solid colors or that aren't too worn out. Thin white cases mean you'll either need to line them (just cut out some washed white cotton in the same shape as your skirt pieces and sew double layers), or relegate the resulting see-through dress to nightie status.

Kitchen 101: Making Pumpkin Puree
By Katie GoodmanI think often we take for granted how easy it is to go to the grocery store and buy a can of already cooked and pureed pumpkin. That is until things like pumpkin shortages happen thanks to last year's poor weather conditions and smaller than expected pumpkin yields. We weren't affected here in New Mexico last year to my knowledge. I was always able to purchase pumpkin when I needed it. But had I not been able to make a quick trip to the nearest store to satisfy my fall cravings, this quick tutorial on making pumpkin puree would have been helpful. Even if you aren't experiencing a pumpkin shortage, it's fun to roast your own pumpkin once in a while. My kids sure get a kick out of picking out pumpkins and cleaning out all the seeds. And you can't make roasted pumpkin seeds when you buy store bough canned pumpkin!Look for pumpkins labeled "Pie Pumpkin" or "Sugar Pumpkin," available in many stores beginning in September.Read the Full Story » | More on CRAFT » | Comments » | Read more articles in CRAFT Projects | Digg this! blog.craftzine.com |
