Sneak Peek of "Greetings from Mochimochi," Show Opens October 7!
Get ready to be teleported to another planet, one where everything is knitted and freakin' adorable. CRAFT friend Anna Hrachovec is having her first solo show, Greetings from Mochimochi, featuring her amazing fiber creations at gallery hanahou in NYC, opening October 7. Above are some preview pics, start getting excited! In her first solo show, craft artist Anna Hrachovec stretches the possibilities of knitting as a medium to create an expansive and wacky landscape installation. Crash-landed aliens, rat-infested skyscrapers, giant ants, and everything else that comprises the 10-foot installation is entirely hand-knitted by the artist, who used 200 balls of yarn and more than a million stitches to make it all come to life. And just for fun, the piece includes a working model train - converted into a silly knitted monster, of course! Some of the elements in the piece are based on designs in Anna's 2010 book of knitted toy patterns, Knitting Mochimochi.More: Little Birds Knitting Pattern Knitting Mochimochi Mochimochi Grass Knit PatternRead the Full Story » | More on CRAFT » | Comments » | Read more articles in Fiber Art | Digg this! blog.craftzine.com |
How-To: Tentacle Pot Pie
Megan of Not Martha shares her spooky take on a classic dinner dish with this fun tentacle pot pie. This is an easy and slightly creepy Halloween dinner. I very simply cut dough into long strips to create tentacles that drape down the sides of a bowl. It's awfully fun to break off tentacles and dunk them into the pot pie while eating.Inspired to craft something for Halloween? Be sure to enter it in our CRAFT Halloween contest to win cool prizes.
